seated with strangers

Be seated

How do you make room for community and what does it look like to make friends as an adult? I never thought I would be in the position of trying to figure any of this out. I had my people, and we were connected for over ten years and then life happened. I experience relational loss causing me to pack my bags and head to my hometown where I had no connections. Then the pandemic happened and that made things that much harder when attempting to make connections.

Seated with Strangers is wrapped into everything that I needed in those moments that I felt like I was doing life solo. This is our attempt to do social good and to fill your social tank.

get seated

Every month we create space for strangers to come together over dinner. Find your seat and get ready to reimagine community.

WHAT TO EXPECT?

Are you ready to meetup with strangers over dinner paired with great conversations? Our dining experience considers you as an individual as we introduce you to other women. From the introvert to the extrovert, we have you covered using our tailored made cards that navigate the night.

HEY STRANGER CARDS

Our “hey stranger” conversation cards are at the helm of every experience as we exchange perspectives with strangers, friends, family and acquaintances. We take the guess work out of figuring out what to talk about. Our social goods show up in your everyday lifestyle.

BECOME A HOST OF A DINNER

It’s our goal at Seated with Strangers to establish and reimagine community through our dinner parties. We are looking for people to host, since Shivawn can’t be everywhere at once. Our host should enjoy good food, great conversations as well as be a champion of healthy community.

SWS DINNER PARTY IS SO HARD TO CAPTURE IN WORDS BECAUSE IT'S AN EXPERIENCE LIKE NO OTHER

It's a feeling. A feeling I can best describe as safe. & the conversations did not disappoint! The beauty of having built-in questions to ask at the table is it takes the pressure off to come up with something interesting to say to complete strangers (haha!). Also, the range of questions! From fun and light to serious and introspective, they really gave us a chance to know each other in a well-rounded way. All in all, I will say this is an experience I hope every person gets to have at some point in life.

PODCAST HOST + DINNER PARTY GUEST

LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I LOVE SEATED WITH STRANGERS! GENUINELY.

The episodes and the afterparties. Just such good convo and since I'm on the younger side, and I've never been someone too in the culture (growing up kids called me Oreo), these conversations help me learn a LOT and just gain more wholelistic perspective. Plus I'm more inclined to really learn and understand culture now- seriously, amazing job!

IT WAS A DINNER PARTY I DIDN’T KNOW I NEEDED. WITH SO MUCH GOING ON.

I rarely have time to myself and/or have the opportunity to have amazing conversations with open minded women. I learned a bit more about myself and the other ladies sitting across from me. I’m truly thankful for the opportunity for us to exchange perspectives. Thank you Shivawn for creating such a beautiful thoughtful experience.
